Baking Soda Plus Lemon- Saves 1000’s Of Lives Each Year

Lemon juice and baking soda could be a miraculous combination and found to saves 1000’s of lives each year.
Over 20 laboratory experiments, conducted since 1970 until recently, proved that: Lemon destroys cancer cells in 12 cancer types. It prevents metastasis of cancer cells and it is 10 000 stronger than drugs like Adriamycin, chemotherapy and narcotic products.
Why lemon juice?
Lemon juice is acidic but it creates an alkaline environment inside your body after being metabolised. It relieves digestive complaints such as acid reflux/heartburn, constipation, bloating and nausea. Lemon juice also prevents kidney stones, is high in vitamin C and B, is a natural antiseptic.
Lemon has shown to contain anti-carcinogenic properties as it contains limonoides which are phytochemicals found in a number of citrus fruits.
Lemon is also used to help balance Ph. They are taken together as it is believed that lemon is one of the safest ways to introduce high alkaline substances into the system. These methods of treatment are able to approach carcinogenic cells and destroy them without destroying healthy cells. This is another key factor as chemotherapy destroys all cells which includes the healthy ones.
Strong Antimicrobial Effect
The strong antimicrobial effect of lemons is due to the high content of vitamin C, which has a wide range of activity against bacterial and fungal infections.
Moreover, it can treat internal parasites and worms successfully and regulate blood pressure levels. Plus, it’s a powerful antidepressant, which effectively reduces stress.
How to make this combination?
The preparation is very simple, mix 2 dL (aprox. 6.8 oz) lemon juice with one teaspoon of baking soda in a cup, optional you can diluted the mixture with a distilled water and the miraculous drink is ready! Consume the drink before breakfast on a empty stomach for better effect.

Fluoride causes more human cancer death , and cause it faster than any other chemical .

The news was broken by author Stefan Smyle and disseminated by the Facebook page Occupy Food, which linked to the report published in The Lancet Neurology, Volume 13, Issue 3, in the March 2014 edition, by authors Dr. Phillippe Grandjean and Philip J. Landrigan, MD. The report can be viewed by clicking here.

Industrial Chemicals Identified

As noted in the summary of the report, a systematic review identified five different similar industrial chemicals as developmental neurotoxicants: lead, methylmercury, polychlorinated biphenyls, arsenic, and toluene.
The summary goes on to state that six additional developmental neurotoxicants have also now been identified: manganese, fluoride, chlorpyrifos, dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, tetrachloroethylene, and the polybrominated diphenyl ethers. The authors added that even more of these neurotoxicants remain undiscovered.

ADHD, Dyslexia, and other cognitive impairments

In the Lancet report, the authors propose a global prevention strategy, saying that “untested chemicals should not be presumed to be safe to brain development, and chemicals in existing use and all new chemicals must therefore be tested for developmental neurotoxicity.”Also in the report, they note that neurodevelopmental disabilities, including attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, dyslexia, and other cognitive impairments, are now affecting millions of children worldwide in what they call a “pandemic of developmental neurotoxicity.”
They continue: “To coordinate these efforts and to accelerate translation of science into prevention, we propose the urgent formation of a new international clearinghouse.”
The report coincides with 2013 findings by a Harvard University meta-analysis funded by the National Institutes of Health that concluded that children in areas with highly fluoridated water have “significantly lower” IQ scores that those who live in areas with low amounts of fluoride in their water supplies.

Fluoride also linked to Cancers

Sodium fluoride in drinking water has also been linked to various cancers. It is functionally different than the naturally-occurring calcium fluoride, and commonly added to drinking water supplies and used by dentists and in dental products who posit that it is useful for dental health.
Currently, fluoride is added to water supplies across much of North America, but as this list of countries that ban or reject water fluoridation shows, the practice is actually not too common, or banned entirely throughout most of Europe and in several other developed nations across the world.

How Your Gut Bacteria Control Your Response to Cancer Treatments

The gut microbiota and its effect on the immune system has been a major topic for discussion in the past decade. We have only begun to understand that the microbes that inhabit our gut (our “gut bacteria”) can influence the immune system. In return, our immune system similarly impacts the existence of healthy and harmful bacteria in our gut.
Even more recently the topic of immunotherapy can offer hope to cancer patients seeking more than a treatment. Researchers have identified that bacteria responses play a critical role in communication with the immune system so impressively that certain bacteria may potentially be used in immunotherapy as a cure for cancer. In the meantime, you can maintain a healthy gut microbiota to help prevent illness and improve the efficacy of cancer treatments today.

The Interaction Between Your Gut Bacteria and Immunity

The gut microbiota consists of the community of microorganisms that colonizethe digestive tract. Of the one hundred trillion organisms that inhabit the intestine, bacteria are the predominant residents amongst other agents such as viruses and fungus. When bacteria exist in a mutually healthy relationship with the human body, it can help inhibit the development of cancer and its growth by regulating chemotherapeutic pathways controlled by the immune system.
Various factors control an individual’s immune response to cancer treatment. This is evident in the many ways the same chemotherapeutic drug can elicit different responses and adverse reactions in cancer patients. Such factors include metabolism, infection, bacteria imbalance (dysbiosis), and environment. With optimal microbiota conditions, the immune system can more effectively exhibit anticancer activity by repairing tissue and limiting toxins.

Bacteroidales and Bifidobacteria

Two major categories of bacteria known as Bacteroidales and Bifidobacteriaseem to correlate with a strong immune system, reflected by the body’s capability to inhibit cancer growth. In fact, one group of researchers at the University of Chicago learned that these gut microbes actually decreased the growth of tumors comparable to a chemoprevention drug now being tested in human clinical trials.
The drug used in study to test the benefits of bacterial strains, ipilimumab, was recently approved in 2011 to treat melanoma cancer. When cancerous mice containing normal gut bacteria were given ipilimumab, they exhibited improved healing such as reduced abdominal inflammation unlike the mice with germ-free or antibiotic-treated systems.
Results showed that the cancer treatment drug ipilimumab depletesBacteroidales and Bifidobacteria as it simultaneously improves the body’s immune response to attack and treat cancer. This supports the need to continually maintain a healthy gut microbiota.

Targeting CTLA-4

A critical protein which assists in regulating the immune system is known as CTLA-4 (cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4). Ipilimumab attempts to block the CTLA-4 response associated with downregulating the immune system and is one of the first treatments categorized as immune checkpoint blockade therapy.
In other words, patients with antibodies which function as an antagonist to shut down CTLA-4 exhibit antitumor effects. Ipilimumab acts as an antibody to block the protein’s receptors but is dependent on Bacteroides species. Again, the antibiotic-treated and germ-free mice exhibited no abilities to block the receptors on CTLA-4 and therefore, no anti-cancer effects.

Avoid Risk Factors for Dysbiosis

The need for healthy gut microflora is a necessity for equipping the immune system with the right tools for healing. Bacteria in the gut are required for nutrient absorption, and breaking down toxins for elimination. It is also required for regulating both a local and external immune system response from the intestines to the skin.
Beneficial bacteria inhibit the release of inflammatory agents and free radical stimulants which devastate immune function and promote carcinogenesis (the initiation of cancer formation).
Although genetics plays a role in cancer development, you can avoid risk factors which damage your immune system’s ability to fight infectious agents like cancer. Antibiotic use, smoking, and diet are major contributors. Not only did germ-free and antibiotic-treated mice in research show zero potential for improving the efficacy of cancer treatment, they also lost the ability for tumor invasive lymphocytes to destroy cancer cells.
10 Strategies for Maintaining Healthy Gut Bacteria
Infections of the gut such as leaky gut syndrome and colitis induce carcinogenic activity from bacteria. Maintaining healthy conditions within the digestive tract is as easy as improving your digestion.
Here is a list of strategies that can provide you with effective techniques to improve the health of your gut microflora and offer anti-cancer benefits to your whole body:
  1. Avoid contaminants such as sugar that destroy beneficial gut bacteria. Sugar increases harmful gut microbes and promotes inflammation.
  2. Avoid taking medication when possible − especially antibiotics. Broad-spectrum antibiotics like ampicillin and streptomycin devastate bacteria colonies and compromise anti-cancer therapies.
  3. Consume fresh organic or no-spray vegetables from farmers markets where they have yet to be scrubbed. This will allow you to get good soil-based microorganisms that help to reduce bad microbial overgrowth and improve digestive and immune function. (Note: This doesn’t mean to eat vegetables covered in dirt, but a tiny amount of good quality dirt won’t hurt you.)
  4. Take a daily probiotic. A once daily probiotic can improve health by increasing the transit time which food and toxins pass through the body, stimulating regular bowel movements.
  5. Consume fermented foods daily. Add small quantities of fermented veggies like kimchi and sauerkraut to meals and drink fermented beverages like coconut water kefir. Use raw apple cider vinegar in water or on foods to help improve your microbiome.
  6. Eat prebiotic rich foods which promote healthy bacteria growth. Some of these foods include vegetables such as garlic, onions, leeks, jicama, and asparagus.
  7. Focus on anti-inflammatory foods such as dark leafy greens and herbs which promote detoxification and balance intestinal pH.
  8. Benefit from the antioxidant components of berries known as phenolic compounds that are broken down in the colon and improve detoxification processes. Blackcurrant powder is shown to exhibit the same effects as prebiotics and increases Bifidobacteria concentrations. Add it to your smoothies and dessert recipes for an added chemopreventive boost.
  9. Take time to relax before eating.  When we eat on the go we don’t get adequate digestive juice (stomach acid, bile, and pancreatic enzymes) for optimal digestion. This causes stress on the digestive tract, promotes bad microbial overgrowth, and intestinal inflammation. Take three long, deep breaths before beginning each meal to help relax the body and improve digestion.
  10. Consider intermittent fasting to promote the gut function. Fasting for a minimum of 12 hours in a day while drinking plenty of water, herbal teas, and fermented drinks can promote enzymatic function and chemopreventive physiological responses.

Balance Your Gut Bacteria for Long Term Good Health

Whether you are trying to prevent cancer or heal from cancer, you should be focused on improving your digestive system and balancing your gut microbiota. These gut microbes play an enormous role in how we metabolize our food, extract nutrient, and respond to both conventional and alternative cancer treatments. By following the action steps in this article you can begin improving your microbiome and reduce your disease risk.

Dear Joan Lunden: Why " SHE " Say “No” to Chemo for Triple Negative Breast Cancer and “Yes” to Natural Healing

October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It’s a month that is about supporting each other through healing and awareness.
A big part of awareness for me is dispelling the myths when it comes to the many kinds of breast cancer, their supposed causes, and how well they respond to “treatment.” For conventional medicine, this treatment mostly means chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery.
Today Show personality Joan Lunden’s announcement last year that she had triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) created a lot of hype around this form of breast cancer in the media. As a bio-energetic chiropractor with 36 years of experience and as a professional who has worked with thousands of women who have or had breast cancer, I would like to dispel some common myths about triple negative breast cancer.

What Are the Real Facts about TNBC?

When Lunden was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer and went public about it, she began to chronical her course of action, which included 19 weeks of chemotherapy followed by a lumpectomy and six weeks of radiation therapy. Here is what she had to say in an online article for the Today Show:
“Doctors found two tumors in my right breast, both triple negative breast cancer, which means it’s more aggressive and faster growing. From the moment you hear the words ‘You have breast cancer,’ it’s almost like you’re shot out of a cannon. You are just propelled at this meteoric speed straight to a cancer surgeon.”
The first thing I must question (and you should too) is why is there such a stigma around triple negative breast cancer? If a woman has TNBC, is it REALLY the doom-and-gloom scenario that traditional doctors (and Lunden) say that it is?
The reality is that there is much hope for healing TNBC, especially when one is open to adding evidence-based natural medicines to their healing protocol. The scary scenario that conventional medicine paints around TNBC is caused by the fact that conventional treatments mostly focus on hormone-positive cancers. TNBC cells do not have receptors for estrogen, progesterone, or Her2/neu proteins. Therefore, there is nothing for hormone-based treatments to “latch” on to.
What does this mean for a woman who has triple negative breast cancer and decides to treat it with conventional treatment like chemotherapy?
Unfortunately, a less-targeted and more intense round is often needed. The result is treatment that is even more toxic to the body’s immune system and also treatment that creates very resistive breast cancer stem cells. These cells can potentially create a reoccurrence of cancer and metastasis.

Use Nature To Heal Triple Negative Breast Cancer

Through natural medicine there is hope for women with TNBC. Nature-based protocols work with the body to boost the immune system and target unhealthy cells. Here is a listing of just a few documented studies that show the effectiveness of natural products for TNBC patients:
  • Researches at NYU have discovered the effects of caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE), a major component of bee propolis, which has anti-tumor effects in TNBC-affected women.
  • Phytochemicals found in blueberries can inhibit the metastatic potential of TNBC by inhibiting tumor growth, according to a joint study published in theJournal of Cancer Research (2010).
  • Curcumin, in turmeric root, has been shown in numerous studies to inhibit the growth of TNBC cells. It also induces a state of targeted apoptosis, or programmed cell death.
  • When researchers at the University of Albany in New York gave mice Vitamin D supplements, they discovered that D, which is actually a hormone that regulates over 100 genes in the human body, suppressed the proteins required for TNBC survival. TNBC patients usually have depleted levels of vitamin D, making it a defining characteristic of those who have this form of breast cancer.
  • Some studies, including ones published in January and February 2015, suggest that cannabinoids may lower the number of inflammatory cancer cell cytokines, reduce their proliferation, and induce programmed cell death.

Detection Alternatives for Dense Fibrous Breast Tissue

Lunden is a large proponent of early detection for breast cancer, which I am as well. What I don’t agree with, however, is the large-scale advocacy of mammography as the only option.
This trend continues even though there is no evidence that early stage breast cancer detection through mammography has reduced the rate of late-stage cancers. However, there is evidence that low dose ionizing radiation, which mammography uses, increases the risk of breast cancer among high-risk women.
Lunden’s passion for early detection was based on her having dense, fibrous breast tissue. There are many non-harmful options for early detection, however. These include thermography and specific blood tests for very early detection.
Did you know that thermography is especially effective for women, like Lunden, who have dense, fibrous breast tissue? Thermography detects heightened areas of heat in the body to pinpoint where inflammation may be occurring, sometimes years before it develops into full-blown cancer. According to a 2008 study, breast thermography has a 97 percent sensitivity rating in discovering breast malignancies, sometimes even before a lump has formed.
Did you also know that there are hormones and proteins that cancer cells can secrete that can determine if you have cancer (and where), even when it is the size of a pinhead? In my professional experience, the best test to determine if you may have these substances in your system is called the Oncoblot test.
It gives me hope and encouragement to know that 63 to 83 percent of women who are diagnosed with breast cancer now use at least one alternative protocol as part of their overall healing journey.
Each kind of cancer is unique, as is each woman. Choosing healing methods that work with a woman’s own unique body system, instead of against it, is the only way to let nature nurture the body towards health.

Frankincense Superior to Chemotherapy in Killing Late-Stage Ovarian Cancer Cells

Like the Magi, carrying myrrh, frankincense, and gold, researchers from the University of Leicester have, for the first time, demonstrated the potential of treating ovarian cancer using the Christmas gift frankincense.
The origins of frankincense can be traced to the Arabian Peninsula. According to Herodotus (5th century BC):
Arabia is the only country which produces frankincense, myrrh, cassia, and cinnamon.. the trees bearing the frankincense are guarded by winged serpents of small size and various colors. (See this GreenMedInfo Summary)

Frankincense, along with gold and myrrh, is one of the most famous Christmas presents in history, and is a fragrant plant resin extracted from the Boswellia sacra tree found across Africa and Arabia. Using the compound AKBA (acetyl-11-keto-beta-boswellic acid) derived from the resin, the research has successfully shown its potential effectiveness in targeting ovarian cancer.
More specifically, they have been able to demonstrate the ability of AKBA to combat cancer cells in late-stage ovarian cancer.
Lead researcher Kamla Al-Salmani, PhD student from the University's Department of Cancer Studies and Molecular Medicine explained:
After a year of studying the AKBA compound with ovarian cancer cell lines in vitro, we have been able to show it is effective at killing the cancer cells.  Frankincense is taken by many people with no known side effects. This finding has enormous potential to be taken to a clinical trial in the future and developed into an additional treatment for ovarian cancer.
Frankincense has been used as a folk medicine for centuries due to its anti-inflammatory properties, making it a viable treatment for asthma, skin conditions and gastroenteritis among others. Previous studies have also successfully linked AKBA as a potential treatment for many other cancers, including colon, breast and prostate cancer; however this is the first study to demonstrate its potential in combating ovarian cancer.
The researchers have shown that this frankincense compound is effective at killing ovarian cancer cells at realistic concentrations. What has been most surprising is that the cells we have tested which are resistant to chemotherapy have shown to be more sensitive to this compound, suggesting frankincense may indeed be able to help overcome drug resistance, and lead to an improved survival rate for patients with late-stage ovarian cancer.

Scientists Discover Another Way Marijuana Helps The Brain Grow

Research shows for the first time that CBD, like THC, can promote the growth of brain cells

In 2005, Canadian researchers made a groundbreaking discovery that would forever discredit the myth that marijuana causes brain damage. What they found was an opposite effect. That is, THC – the main chemical in marijuana and the reason why users get ‘high’ – can actually cause new brain cells to grow.
The process of brain growth is called neurogenesis and does not usually improve with drug use. Marijuana use is a different story, explained Xia Zhang, M.D, Ph.D., associate professor at the University of Saskatchewan and lead author of the study:
“Most ‘drugs of abuse’ suppress neurogenesis. Only marijuana promotes neurogenesis.”
Still, THC is not the only chemical found in marijuana and, eight years later, a team from Brazil is giving marijuana users more reason to celebrate. Their study, published in the July issue ofThe International Journal of Neuropsychopharmacology, shows that cannabidiol (CBD) can help your brain grow too.
Looking to investigate the effects of CBD on anxiety and depression in rodents, the researchers went to the source – a part of the brain called the hippocampus. The hippocampus regulates emotion and cognitive function and is also the only area of the adult brain that can grow.
While previous studies have found CBD to have beneficial effects on anxiety and depression, the new study is the first to explain why.
What the scientists found was that CBD, just like THC, also causes brain cells in the hippocampus to grow. This, they say, could explain why previous studies identified CBD as an effective treatment for mood disorders.
“Our results indicate that chronic CBD administration, by promoting neurogenesis, favours a similar anxiolytic response in stressed mice.”
Likewise, other studies have linked depression, anxiety and stress – and even problems with learning and memory – to a lack of adult neurogenesis. Although this can be brought on by frequent substance use (expect for marijuana), neurogenesis also slows down naturally as you age.
But now there is hope, says the team from Brazil. A new understanding of how the brain reacts to CBD, along with other compounds in marijuana, “opens the door for their use to manage psychiatric symptoms in disorders such as ageing, stress and neuroinflammation.”
The study was led by Ismael Galve-Roperh of the Centro de Investigacion Biomedica en Red sobre Enfermedades Neurodegenerativas (CIBERNED), Instituto de Universitario de Investigacion en Neuroquımica (IUIN) and Instituto Ramon y Cajal de Investigacion Sanitaria (IRYCIS)

Sinus Infection Natural Remedies

Here’s the all-time best natural remedies for a sinus infection and sinus headache that are guaranteed to give you fast and sustained relief from the pain and inflammation… with no harmful side effects!
Sinus infection or sinusitis is a horrible and debilitating condition that affects around 37 million people in the U.S. alone. It results when the sinuses in the nose (the body’s air filters) become inflamed and blocked, trapping the mucous and air that would normally be expelled. This in turn allows germs and other harmful organisms to enter and grow, causing infection. A pressure build up also develops which produces severe and even excruciating pain in the nasal passages and surrounding areas. In fact, many sinusitis sufferers report that their head becomes so “pressurized” it literally feels like it’s going to explode off their shoulders! Not very nice at all.

The Two Types of Sinusitis…

There are two types of sinus infection you need to be concerned with; acute and chronic. Acute sinusitis (the most common type) can last for up to four weeks while chronic sinusitis can last for more than three months, and even persist for years. The most common triggers for sinus infection are the common cold, allergic rhinitis (hay fever), nasal polyps (non-cancerous swellings that grow in the nose or sinuses) and a deviated septum (off center bone and cartilage that divides the nasal cavity). Typical signs and symptoms of sinusitis include; facial pressure and pain, nasal discharge and/or stuffiness, cough, headache, and loss of taste and smell.

Medical and Pharmaceutical Options for Sinus Infection…

The medical profession would have you believe that sinusitis is a complicated problem and there is no cure for it. Well this is totally false! The main cause of sinus infection (which we’ll share with you in a minute) is not complicated at all and once you fix this, you literally won’t have to worry about sinusitis again.
But what are the medical options available for treating a sinus infection? Well, antibiotics, pain killers, decongestants, analgesics, mucolytics and steroids are the common pharmaceuticals prescribed by physicians. And although these may give you relief initially, they do come with side effects and also become less effective the more you use them. Eventually, it gets to the point where they actually do very little (you’ve probably already found this out for yourself). Then when all of these methods fail (which they inevitably do) the last medical option available is radical surgery. But surgery rarely fixes sinusitis, and in many cases, can even make things worse! (Just talk to anyone who’s already had the procedure). Many people who do opt for the surgery also require additional operations after to repair other problems and complications that develop as a result of the initial surgery. Someone with a deviated septum, however, can usually benefit from having surgery, but this procedure is typically reserved for patients with a badly crooked septum usually suffered from a severe broken nose or other acute nasal trauma.
The bottom line here is none of the orthodox treatments available for sinus infection are much good, nor do they give you any lasting or real long term relief (to say nothing of actually curing your sinusitis). But I get the feeling you probably already know this and that’s why you’re here looking for some home remedies for your sinus infection.

The Real Cause of Sinusitis…

The main cause of sinusitis is a compromised immune system. So basically, your immune system is shot to pieces and that’s allowed all sorts of pathogens to invade and take over your body, resulting in a sinus infection (and probably numerous other health problems as well). If you don’t believe me then see if any of this relates to you…
I’d be willing to bet that if you suffer from sinusitis (acute or chronic) then you also have a habit of catching just about every virus that’s going around, especially the common cold and flu virus, along with various stomach viruses. You will also likely struggle with allergies, food sensitivities and poor digestion, as well as suffering from other health disorders such as upset tummies, gas, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, and reflux.
This is no accident.
The fact is without a strong immune system you are going to keep getting sinus infections and other poor-health problems. What’s more, if you’ve regularly taken antibiotics or any of the other pharmaceutical treatments for sinusitis then you’ve actually made things worse because these treatments have the undesirable effect of lowering your immunity even more! But it’s not all doom and gloom though because as you’re about to discover, you can fix all of this and you can fix it quite easily using natural treatments and home remedies for your sinus infection.

Natural Remedies for Sinus Infection That Give Powerful Results…

Yes, you’ve definitely come to the right place to treat and cure your sinusitis! We want to let you know this straight up because what you’ll find here are 8 very potent internal and external natural cures and home remedies for sinus infection that really do work like magic. But you do need to remember something though, we aren’t just talking about treatments that will give you quick relief if you’re currently suffering from a sinus infection right now, we’re also talking about natural treatments that will cure your sinusitis and prevent you from having another one!
Now while we list some excellent external remedies to help with your sinus infection (if you have one right now) it’s actually the internal remedies that are the real “meat” to treating and curing your sinusitis for good. Also keep in mind that some of the natural cures we list work effectively as both internal and external remedies. We will let you know which ones these are as we go.
So enough of the jaw flapping, let’s get into it with our all-time best home remedies for sinus infection in order of importance…

Natural Cure for Sinus Infection #1 – Probiotics…

According to Chinese medicine, sinus infections and seasonal allergies are almost always related to gut and intestinal problems. This makes sense as 80% of your immune system is located in your digestive system. When you have an overgrowth of bad bacteria in the stomach and colon, your immune system cannot function properly or fight off any foreign invaders. The bad bacteria also take over and thrive in unlikely places such as your nasal passages, causing both acute and chronic sinus infections.
If you have a sinus infection and/or any of the accompanying health problems we listed earlier, you will very likely have a toxic overload of bad bacteria in your body. So to kill off these nasty little creatures you need plenty of good bacteria (probiotics). The way it works is the “friendly” bacteria basically run the bad guys out of town then take up residence themselves… which is a good thing of course!
In addition to this, certain probiotics (lactobacillus) produce hydrogen peroxide as a natural by-product. And hydrogen peroxide is a powerful bacterial killer and excellent remedy for sinus infections! (See our #8 home remedy).
Now, I’m well aware that there’s going to be plenty of people out there saying this whole probiotics/sinus infection connection is an absolute load of codswallop. But I challenge you to follow our recommendations below on the “best ways to get your probiotics” and stick with them for at least 6 months solid and see for yourself. In fact, even well-known health advocate and author, Chris Kresser, strongly recommends probiotics for treating sinus problems and infections.
So to silence the doubters and add further evidence to the whole good/bad bacteria theory for treating sinusitis, here’s a study that was published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition confirming the benefits of probiotics for reducing pathogenic bacteria in the nasal passages. Two quotes that are definitely worth highlighting from the report are… “These bacteria (bad bacteria) can cause infectious diseases such as sinusitis, pneumonia or otitis (ear infections)” and “The clinical relevance of the nose as a reservoir of PPB (potentially pathogenic bacteria) is often underestimated”. The title of the report also says it all… “Ingested Probiotics Reduce Nasal Colonization With Pathogenic Bacteria”.

Best Ways to Get Your Probiotics…

To get your daily supply of all-important probiotics, there’s two things you need to do. First, find yourself a high quality probiotic supplement to take every day (and follow the directions on the bottle). You can find these supplements in virtually every health food store, online shops, and even most supermarkets now so this won’t be a problem. Secondly, you need to start making and fermenting your own probiotic rich foods such as kefir, miso, tempeh and sauerkraut. These superb foods provide a wide variety of the important probiotics your body needs every day, not just for your overall good health and longevity, but for also treating and preventing annoying health problems such as sinusitis. Have a look at this terrific website, which gives you all the information you need to easily make probiotic rich foods… CulturesForHealth.
In addition to this, you can also break open a probiotic capsule and using a clean finger, lie back and gently place the contents directly up the nostrils if you have a sinus infection right now and want some quick relief. Or as an alternative, empty the contents of the probiotic capsule into a neti pot with some warm, filtered water and a little baking soda and pour directly into the nasal passages. If you’re not comfortable with this or for small children, you can always use an eye dropper, bulb syringe or nasal spray bottle instead (two or three squirts up each nostril will usually do the trick). Doing either of these 3 practices before bedtime seems to work the best.

Natural Cure for Sinus Infection #2 – Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)…

Apple cider vinegar is another outstanding home remedy for sinus infection. It contains some powerful antimicrobial properties, which means it helps to kill off any bad bacteria and destructive microbes that may be lurking in your gut and nasal passages. At the same time, it also boosts and replenishes the supply of much needed good bacteria in these areas as well. The vinegar in ACV also helps to break up congested mucous and provides excellent relief from a blocked stuffy nose, while the rich potassium content helps to dry up a runny nose. So you actually get the best of both worlds!

How to Use Apple Cider Vinegar for Sinusitis…

Now when you go out and purchase your apple cider vinegar, make sure you only ever purchase the raw, unfiltered ACV that still contains the “mother” apple. This is extremely important as all other apple cider vinegars are processed rubbish and will not benefit you at all. Mix up 2 teaspoons of ACV with 1 teaspoon of Manuka honey in around 8 ounces of warm, filtered water. Drink this concoction 3 times daily 10-20 minutes before food. You can also mix 2 teaspoons of ACV in 6 ounces of warm water and using a neti pot or eye dropper, pour directly into the nasal passages. This may sting a bit for a few seconds but it’s guaranteed to clear your sinuses!
The great thing about apple cider vinegar is its dirt cheap to buy and lasts for ages. As with the probiotics, you need to take ACV every single day from this point on if you want to not only treat your current sinus infection, but prevent further ones in the future. If you have trouble drinking the ACV (some people really can’t handle the taste) you can try the apple cider vinegar capsules instead. These work just as well and many people find them much easier to get down than the liquid.

Home Remedy for Sinus Infection #3 – Olive Leaf Extract (OLE)…

Olive leaf extract is probably the most powerful viral, bacterial and pathogen killer on the planet! And the speed at which it is able to dispose of these unwelcome foreign invaders is very impressive. OLE is also a strong anti-inflammatory agent (sinusitis is basically inflammation of the sinuses) and a very potent immune enhancer. Because sinusitis is caused from all of these, this definitely puts olive leaf extract on the “must have” list of remedies and cures for this condition. In fact, olive leaf extract works so well for just about every health condition, a certain pharmaceutical company (which I won’t name) even tried to get a patent on this miracle substance some years ago and claim it as a drug (without success of course).

Best Way to Take OLE…

Now there are a few different potencies of OLE on the market at the moment, from regular strength to super strength (available in liquid or capsules). We suggest you go for the super strength varieties and avoid the regular strength. The regular strength is not powerful enough in our opinion so you won’t reap the full benefits and will likely just end up wasting your money.
The best way to take OLE is on a 3 month on 3 month off “cleansing” cycle. Or if this is not financially viable for you then you can take it for 3 months then rest for 6 months before going back on for 3 months then resting for 6 months, and so on. For dosages, take the highest recommended amount listed on the bottle for full effect and benefit.
Natural Remedy for Sinus Infection #4 – Colloidal Silver…
Colloidal silver is yet another very powerful viral, bacterial and fungal eradicator. It’s actually one of the most popular home remedies for a sinus infection because it works so well. And if you have a cold or the flu virus accompanying your sinus infection, the colloidal silver, combined with the olive leaf extract, will get rid of the virus in a matter of days (even hours in many cases), not weeks!
Colloidal silver works in a similar way to olive leaf extract by binding to the protein structure surrounding the virus or bacterial infection, which then prevents it from feeding and replicating further. So by doing this, the infection is quickly contained, quarantined and killed!
How to Use the Colloidal Silver…
There are two ways to effectively use the colloidal silver. The first is internally. Take one teaspoon of high strength colloidal silver mixed in a glass of filtered water 5-7 times a day for 3 weeks. The second way is externally. To do this simply tilt your head back, and using a bulb syringe or eye dropper, place 3-4 drops of full strength colloidal silver directly into each nostril. Sniff the colloidal silver in if you can and let it drain down into your throat.
Works a treat!

Home Remedy for Sinus Infection #5 – Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Vitamin C, Zinc and Essential Fatty Acids (EFA’s)…

All of these nutrients are potent natural remedies for sinus infection for two basic reasons. Firstly, they help to reduce any inflammation in the body, including the sinuses. Secondly, they all help to boost your immune system, which you now know, is vital to treating and preventing sinusitis. So either go out and find yourself a good quality multi-vitamin and mineral complex with high amounts of these key nutrients, or purchase them separately. Also be sure to eat plenty of eggs (vitamin A and zinc), pumpkin seeds (zinc), chilli peppers and kale (vitamin C), cold water fatty fish (EFA’s) and get lots of sunshine (vitamin D)!
Natural Cure for Sinus Infection #6 – Herbs and Spices…
There are many herbs and spices that are worthy natural remedies for sinus infection and definitely belong in your pantry. Here’s a list of the most beneficial…
Cayenne pepper: This red chilli is a mighty powerful home remedy for sinus infection, as long as you can stand the heat! It will certainly “clear the nostrils” quite rapidly and help alleviate the pain and inflammation of sinusitis. In fact, cayenne pepper is considered the ultimate natural pain killer and inflammation reducer. And the great thing is it works just as well as pharmaceuticals such as paracetamol and Nurofen, but doesn’t do you any harm!
Powdered cayenne pepper is much stronger (and better) than just the plain red chilli. Either use the powder in your cooking as much as possible or mix it in a smoothie every day. If this fails and the heat gets to you, play it safe and take the cayenne pepper capsules instead. In addition, you can either use a cayenne pepper spray or “snort” the powder into the nasal passages for fast relief. Although this works exceedingly well, it can also burn so this is probably best left unless you get to the desperation stage.
Turmeric: Turmeric contains a potent anti-inflammatory substance called curcumin. Curcumin doesn’t just reduce the swelling and symptoms of your sinusitis quite quickly, it also gives your immune system a powerful and welcome boost. You can either mix turmeric powder in a smoothie or take the capsules. 500 mg’s twice daily is the recommended dose for best results.
Garlic: You can never go wrong by eating lots of garlic! It’s still one of nature’s best antibiotics and as a home remedy for sinus infection, it works a real treat. Garlic contains allicin, a substance which is anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal in nature. So whatever infections you have going on in your nasal cavities, garlic will clear them up quickly. Just make sure you eat fresh garlic (2-3 bulbs) by either cutting them up and taking with water or crushing them up and adding to your smoothie. Also use garlic in your soups and the rest of your cooking as much as you can.
In addition to this, you can take 3 or 4 garlic cloves and soak them in water for 20 minutes before crushing into a garlic paste. Use this paste to inhale the vapors from the garlic directly into your sinuses for some welcome relief.
Oregano oil: Another excellent natural cure for sinus infection. The down side? It can be a little expensive. But if you want quick and sustained relief from your sinusitis symptoms, you really can’t go past oil of oregano (and it works virtually 100% of the time).
There are two ways to use the oil. First, place a drop or two of the oil under the tongue (it doesn’t taste the best but you get used to it). Do this 2-3 times daily. The second way is to use it as a vapor relief. So what you do is bring a pot of water to steaming temperature (not boiling) then add a couple of drops of oregano oil. Drape a towel over your head and lean over the pot, breathing in the vapors through your nose. It works a treat!
Cinnamon: This sweet tasting spice has been used for centuries to treat respiratory problems such as nasal congestion and sore throat. The chemicals in cinnamon have been shown to kill the harmful bacteria that causes sinusitis, along with reducing inflammation in the nasal passages so you can breathe more easily. Cinnamon is also terrific for breaking up and removing mucous from the sinuses. Mix ½-1 teaspoon of cinnamon with 1 teaspoon of Manuka honey in a glass of warm water or add it to your smoothie.
Onions and Horseradish: Both of these are very good (and cheap) home remedies for sinus infection. They are both high in sulphur (which is the reason why you cry when chopping them up) and contain strong antibiotic, antihistamine and anti-inflammatory properties. Be sure to use them in your cooking, especially soups, as much as you can. Also try chopping up a couple of small slices of onion and gently place them up your nostrils. Start breathing deeply and your nose will be clear in a few minutes!
Ginger: Another great folk home remedy for colds and flu and sinus problems. Ginger is anti-mucous and anti-inflammatory in nature and also boosts the immune system quite powerfully. Use it in your cooking and make yourself a nice hot lemon and ginger tea for extra benefit and relief from your sinusitis.

Natural Cure for Sinus Infection #7 – Diet…

What you eat and don’t eat are both extremely important for preventing and treating sinusitis. All refined and processed foods should not be eaten, especially refined sugars and yeast containing foods (breads, alcohol, etc) as these feed the bad bacteria in your body. Also avoid mucous-forming foods including all dairy (milk, cheese, ice-cream and yoghurt), flour products, fried foods and chocolate. If you regularly suffer from sinus infections, the last thing you need is extra mucous.
For the foods you need to be eating more of, the basics apply. Plenty of fresh fruit, vegetables, herbs and berries including blueberries, raspberries and goji berries, and seeds including chia and flax seeds, along with healthy oils such as coconut oil and palm oil. And of course, eat lots of cultured and fermented foods such as kefir and sauerkraut for your good bacteria and oily fish for essential fatty acids.

Natural Cure for Sinus Infection #8 – More Relief Remedies…

To finish off, here’s a couple of “sure fire” relief remedies for your sinus infection if you find that nothing else is working to clear those nasal passages quickly. You definitely can’t go wrong with these age-old home remedies…
Saline (salt) rinse: This one is the most used external cleanse and flush for sinusitis. Although it doesn’t actually cure sinus infections as such, it does clear the nasal passages and give you excellent relief. Simply mix 1 teaspoon of sea salt or pink rock salt and ½ teaspoon of baking soda in 1 cup of warm, filtered water. Using either a bulb syringe or neti pot (syringe works better), tilt the head back and gently squeeze the syringe or pour the mixture directly into each nasal passage. Allow it to drain out the opposite nostril or into the mouth but do not swallow. Make sure you spit out the mixture as this will contain bacteria and other toxins. Repeat this process 3 times daily.
Betadine and Salt Rinse: This is just a turbo-boosted version of the standard saline rinse. And yes it does work even better! Just purchase some antiseptic Betadine from your local pharmacy (drug store) or online and add 5-7 drops to 1 cup of warm filtered water, along with 1 teaspoon of sea salt or pink rock salt and ½ teaspoon of baking soda. Use a bulb syringe or neti pot and flush out each nostril in the same way as the saline rinse. Repeat 2-3 times daily for best results.
Hydrogen peroxide: Hydrogen peroxide is great for relieving the pain, inflammation and congestion caused by a sinus infection. In fact, it’s one of the safest and most effective external treatments that’s regularly recommended by many natural health practitioners. Because hydrogen peroxide is a powerful antibacterial agent, it quickly eliminates the infection as well as relieving the congestion by flushing all of the “gunk” out of the sinuses. If you have a cold or flu accompanying your sinus infection, you can also pour it into your ears to quickly clear up the infection and hasten your recovery. It works incredibly well!
When using the hydrogen peroxide treatment, be sure to only use a 3% food grade solution and not the 35% industrial solution. Mix four parts filtered water to one part 3% hydrogen peroxide. Flush the sinuses using a nasal spray bottle or neti pot 3-4 times daily (or as often as needed). For cleaning out the ears and relieving cold and flu symptoms, either pour or spray the pre-mixed solution directly into one ear and leave for 2-3 minutes before draining, or place 2-3 drops of the straight solution from the bottle into the ear. Leave for 2-3 minutes before rinsing, then repeat with the other ear.
“Natural Remedies for Sinus infection” Last Word…
So there you have our top 8 home remedies for sinus infection. And yes, there are definitely lots more treatments out there you could try, but we’ve found most of them work on a hit-and-miss basis (usually miss). The recommendations we’ve suggested here are the “tried and tested” home remedies for sinusitis that are highly effective and proven to work. And like we said earlier, what’s really terrific about these treatments is they don’t just give you excellent relief from your sinusitis right now, they also help to prevent further infections in the future (the internal remedies, that is).
And that does bring up another important point. Don’t treat the internal remedies we list here like a prescription you get from your doctor. You don’t just take these until the infection is gone and then stop. You take these for the rest of your life! Of course, cost is going to be an ongoing factor so we suggest you make the probiotics, ACV, olive leaf extract, and multi-vitamin and minerals your first “permanent choices”, or in the case of the olive leaf extract, your semi-permanent choice, and then add as many of the other internal remedies as your finances allow (the herbs and spices would be our next choice). You really need to think of this as a long term investment in your health, not just a short term fix from your current sinus symptoms. At the end of the day though, it’s totally up to you.
So what are you waiting for, get stuck into it and cure that horrible sinus infection right now before your head does literally explode. And at least once you do, you’ll be able to finally get some decent sleep and stop waking the dead from your loud breathing and snoring!
Good luck and all the best.
